We are looking for people who can think on their feet, communicate their ideas, and take the lead in putting those ideas into action. People who are caring and compassionate and who want to make a real difference to people. You’ll need to remain calm in a crisis, work well in a team and be able to adapt to changing situations.
No two days are the same, one day you may be called out to an incident, and the next visiting schools and inspiring the next generation. Being a firefighter is so much more than fighting fires and you will play a huge role in educating the local community on fire safety and prevention methods.

Salary: Trainee Firefighter £28,265, Development £29,442 and Competent £37,675
Postings: Please be aware that if you are successful in the process you may be posted to any of our shift or day crewed fire stations depending where we have vacancies. Postings for specific Stations will be offered after your successful interview, approximately 6-8 weeks prior to the course. You will have the opportunity to request your preferred Station Posting, we can't guarantee we'll be able to offer you your first choice.
Training Course: Wholetime recruits course runs over a 13-week period. This is a residential course at our NYFRS Training Centre in Easingwold. Ensuite bedrooms are provided and there is also an On-site Gym and Canteen. Candidates are expected to be onsite Monday to Friday - weekends you can return home.

Eligibility
- Driving License: All applicants must have a Full UK Driving License.
- Swimming Ability: Applicants should be able to swim 100m unaided and tread water for 30 seconds.
